Hip Lift progression

when I was younger they used to call them tush tighteners. You lay flat on your back with your knees bent and your feet planted on the floor. Pushing down with your legs, raise your hips up until your body is slanting in a perfect line from knees to chest. To add to the level of difficulty hold one leg straight out while the other bears all the weight of your lower body when pushing the hips forward. You will really feel this one in your hips and buttocks!

 

Toe Taps

Laying on your back in the same position as the hip lift progression, with your knees bent so that your knees make a 90 degree angle to the floor and you simply tap your toes to the floor alternately switching from one leg to the other. The other leg should be bent at the knee but with the leg pointing straight out as it does when you do crunches.

 

Single Leg Front Raises

Standing with your feet approximately shoulder width apart lift one foot off of the floor while holding your arms out in front of you at shoulder level, You can use hand weights to work your chest, shoulders and upper back. Stand in that position with your arms forward for as long as you like, as long as you repeat it on the other side for the same length of time.

 

Squat with Kick Back

Squat down with your arms bent at the elbow and your hands in front of your chest, while in the squat position lift one leg and extend it straight back behind you. At the same time extend your hands out in front of you so you are almost in a Super girl pose. Bring the leg and the arms back into the squat position. Push your body back up to a standing position and repeat on the other side.

 

Single leg squat with towel

If you have hard floors such as tile, linoleum, or wood this is a great exercise for you. Put a towel under one foot. Now using the foot that is still on the floor squat down extending the other leg out and letting it slide to the side. Push back up and repeat. Do ten to twenty reps on one side then switch and do the same with the other leg.
